Project 3 in progress

here is the basic slab cylinder I made after the slab had become a little firmer to avoid losing it's shape.
an initial attempt at a handle designed to look like cast iron, like a gate latch
cutting out the bottom for the cylinderusing the foot wheel to bellow out the middle of the cylinder to create barrel shape. Even pressure was key to keeping a uniform shape.
initial attemp at a pinch pot, found it too difficult to make a large enough vessel with decent weight

Our location is the Chimes, and my piece of tableware is a beer stein. I tried several different building techniques and found slab building to be the most effective for my form.

For the final forms, I made 2 barrels, then cut them in half to have 4 half barrels. Made 4 top halves of pint glasses, used coils to make the curve on the glass part. Used the square extruder to make the handles. Roughed up the barrels with a trimming tool and fettling knife. The grog worked with me on this project by making a good wood texture.
