Project 3 in progress

here is the basic slab cylinder I made after the slab had become a little firmer to avoid losing it's shape.
an initial attempt at a handle designed to look like cast iron, like a gate latch
cutting out the bottom for the cylinderusing the foot wheel to bellow out the middle of the cylinder to create barrel shape. Even pressure was key to keeping a uniform shape.
initial attemp at a pinch pot, found it too difficult to make a large enough vessel with decent weight

Our location is the Chimes, and my piece of tableware is a beer stein. I tried several different building techniques and found slab building to be the most effective for my form.

For the final forms, I made 2 barrels, then cut them in half to have 4 half barrels. Made 4 top halves of pint glasses, used coils to make the curve on the glass part. Used the square extruder to make the handles. Roughed up the barrels with a trimming tool and fettling knife. The grog worked with me on this project by making a good wood texture.

Ransome Circle K Donut sword wand

the design for this product is a way to keep multiple donuts and coffee within reach, without having to touch the donuts directly.

the first version is sort of like a sword, with a spike for donut stacking that sits in a bowl. the bowl would be filled with coffee to keep it close. this assembly has a handle on the bottom and there would be a small finger operated bulb pump to supply coffee up vinyl tubing located in the spike, showering coffee over the sugary treats.

the second design is one that would hang in a car or truck by a hinge on one end and a bungee cord at the other. and donuts would slide up a curved spike and have a handle to facilitate moving the assembly into place. there is a reservoir for coffee and a tube that travels down the spike, gravity feeding to a valve like on a "camel pack" water

In progress final project

letting the slot for the utensils harden into shape

bean shaped plate with slight lip to contain food and to allow stacking
inner band is stiffening to place on the bottom
space in the band is for the use of the utensil holder and to allow some heat to escape
letting the plate slum in some to create the bottom for the plate
still need to apply outer lip
started with a circle and then created a band for the bottom to create a space for the food on the bottom plate to sit

459 Bowl in Progress

I made a bisque mold for this bowl (on right) in the shape of an egg so that it would be easier to drink directly from the narrower end. The handles were inspired by Kari Radasch's work.
